Syracuse football: here’s what we’ve heard since the portal opened

The latest portal news

It’s the day Syracuse football fans have been waiting for since October as the transfer portal opens today. We’ve watched the mood change as more and more Orange players have announced their intentions, so this is going to be an interesting two weeks.

After the Orange offense plummeted following Steve Angeli’s injury, Fran Brown said he’d add two quarterbacks in the portal. With Rickie Collins, Luke Carney and Jakhari Williams leaving, it leaves Angeli, Rich Belin, Joe Filardi and incoming recruit Zaid Lott right now.

Between graduation and transfers, Syracuse is going to need to replace their leading rusher (Yasin Willis) and five of their top six receivers: Dan Villari, Johntay Cook, Darrell Gill, Justus Ross-Simmons, and Emmanuel Ross. This doesn’t even begin to mention the offensive and defensive lines, so let’s get to what we’ve heard now that things are official.
