Indiana football projected to land a top transfer portal quarterback

Indiana may have found its successor to Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza through the transfer portal.

It looks like Indiana football will turn to the transfer portal to replace its Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback.

The Hoosiers, currently in the thick of the College Football Playoff, are projected to land a commitment from Josh Hoover, a rising senior quarterback at TCU, according to a crystal ball prediction from the staff of 247Sports.

Hoover has spent the previous four seasons with the Horned Frogs, redshirting in 2022 and starting the final six games in 2023. He’s been TCU’s starting quarterback ever since, being named a team captain in 2024. He completed 65.9% of his pass attempts for 3,472 yards and 29 touchdowns with 13 interceptions this past season.

Hoover, who’s from Rockwell, Texas and attended Rockwell-Heath High School, originally committed to Indiana as a 3-star prospect in the class of 2022 before flipping to TCU after the Hoosiers’ poor 2021 season and the firing of then-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Nick Sheridan.
