It is no secret that Real Madrid are currently on the lookout for midfield reinforcements, as they look to find a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos.

The club have been linked with moves for players like Adam Wharton and Kees Smit, but neither of them has yet proved themselves for a long period of time.

That is why Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is still longing for a midfielder like Vitinha. But he is not the only player Perez is dreaming about.

Florentino Perez wants to sign Declan Rice

As reported by Defensa Central, Perez’s dream is to sign Arsenal superstar Declan Rice in Real Madrid’s bid to sign a new midfielder.

The Real Madrid president rates Rice quite highly, particularly after the performance he showed against Los Blancos in the Champions League.

Real Madrid were one of the clubs that were tracking his progress at West Ham and remain interested in his services.

At just 27, the Spanish giants are aware that Rice may have more shelf life than someone like Rodri. However, securing the services of the English international will be next to impossible.

The former West Ham star is a key player at Arsenal, and manager Mikel Arteta has no desire to offload him anytime soon. Not to mention, Arsenal have made a signifcant investment of €120 million in an effort to retain his services at the club.

While Rice had recently raised eyebrows by admitting his admiration at Real Madrid, the transfer remains unrealistic for now, though Real Madrid will continue to monitor the midfielder’s situation at Arsenal.
