Angel City’s reinforcements are coming!
If Santa didn’t bring you any presents and you’re an Angel City supporter, then this is your lucky day. Why? Well, because the club announced today the signings of five players who will be announced in the coming days.
Although they didn’t say who those players are, they have teased them with emojis. So, on Tuesday, the first of those five players will be announced and we can conclude for sure that she’s a Brazilian magician.
The second player to be announced next Wednesday has a cherry and a bomb as clues, which could point to a Japanese player since the cherry blossom — or sakura — is Japan’s national flower.
Then, on Thursday, the club will announce its third signing and the clues point out to maybe a player coming from Duke University since they’re known as the Blue Devils.
The fourth signing to be announced next Friday might be a champion coming from Florida State University, while the fifth and final signing might be an American player who has won the Shield at one point in her career.
Whomever those signings are, it’s good to see Angel City’s offseason starting to pick up some pace since the only news coming from the club in this offseason have been some departures, among them German international Sara Doorsoun’s, besides Hina Sugita and Nealy Martin’s contract extensions.
As we wait for the club to announce the signings, there’s the lingering question of whether Sporting Director Mark Parsons will be able to put up a competitive enough team to fight for the Shield and the Championship this year or not.
