Field set for LIV Golf Promotions event, 3 spots in league up for grabs

LIV Golf doesn't officially kick off its 2026 season for another month, but the league will finalize its full roster this weekend.

LIV Golf doesn't officially kick off its 2026 season for another month, but the league will finalize its full roster this weekend. The first LIV Golf Promotions event of the year begins Thursday at Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Florida, ranked No. 125 among Golfweek's Top 200 Residential Courses in the U.S.

The event is a 72-hole stroke play eliminator tournament of sorts. The top-20 finishers from the first day move on to Friday's second round, at which point the scores will reset and players who automatically qualified for the second day will be added to the field. The top 20 after Friday then advance to a 36-hole shootout over the weekend. After play concludes Sunday, Jan. 11, the top three on the leaderboard will be awarded the final wild card spots on the 2026 LIV Golf roster, which will have 57 players this year instead of 54.

There are some familiar faces among the 87 golfers set to tee it up at Black Diamond Ranch, like three-time PGA Tour winner Anthony Kim and 2016 European Ryder Cup member Chris Wood. Check out a full breakdown of the field.

Chris Wood of England tees off on the eighth hole on day one of the Austrian Alpine Open presented by SalzburgerLand 2025 at Golfclub Gut Altentann on May 29, 2025 in Henndorf am Wallersee, Austria.
