Chargers re-sign WR Luke Grimm to practice squad

The Chargers are re-signing WR Luke Grimm to the practice squad and releasing TE Tanner McLachlan

On Tuesday afternoon, the Chargers announced the signing if wide receiver Luke Grimm to the practice squad. Grimm re-joins the Chargers as a former member of the team’s initial 2025 free agent haul this past offseason. In a corresponding move, the Chargers released tight end Tanner McLachlan.

Grimm played collegiately at the University of Kansas and has been both a wideout and return man for the Chargers. During the 2025 preseason, Grimm caught three passes for 43 yards and one touchdown. On special teams, he made one of the plays of the preseason when he returned a punt 66 yards for a touchdown.

The UDFA has been on and off the practice squad for most of the year and I believe this move is to get the practice ready for when the team starts to hand out reserve/future contracts following the end of their season. Grimm showed promise back in August and he deserves a chance to stick around for it.
