Bakhram Murtazaliev’s next mandatory challenger will be decided this spring in California
Super welterweight contenders Brandon Adams and Caoimhin Agyarko avoided a purse bid by the skin of their teeth today, coming to terms for an April 18th IBF final eliminator “likely” to take place in Los Angeles.
California’s Adams (26-4, 16 KO), onetime winner of The Contender, will have the crowd on his side as he pursues his first title bout since falling to Jermall Charlo in 2019. His current run, which includes a three-year absence, notably features a pair of decisive wins over Serhii Bohachuk alongside a UD over then-unbeaten Francisco Daniel Veron and a narrow split decision loss to another unbeaten in Andreas Katsourakis. It’s been a hell of a comeback story for Adams, who got derailed by early-career losses to Willie Monroe Jr and Apollo Thompson but has emerged as a true player at 154.
Agyarko (18-0, 7 KO), owner of a well-aged split decision over Troy Williamson, barely escaped 2025 with his undefeated record intact. He got past Ryan Kelly with a majority decision in April, then had to get off the canvas to edge out Ishmael Davis in their September war. Adams represents his first step onto the world stage and his first appearance outside of Europe.
