OL Jake Guarnera withdraws from transfer portal, returning to Michigan

BREAKING: OL Jake Guarnera has taken his name out of the transfer portal and is returning to Michigan for the 2026 season!

The Wolverines received more good news, as offensive lineman Jake Guarnera has taken his name out of the transfer portal and is returning to Michigan for the 2026 season.

Guarnera is the second player to withdraw from the portal for the Wolverines on Tuesday, as it was reported earlier in the day that cornerback Zeke Berry would also be returning to Michigan.

Guarnera was a mainstay on the Wolverines’ offensive line from Week 3 onward this past season. He made his first career start against Central Michigan at right guard following an injury to initial starter Brady Norton, and Guarnera started at that spot the rest of the year.

He was the highest-graded Michigan offensive lineman on Pro Football Focus (69.5 overall grade) in 2025 and is now expected to have a major role for Kyle Whittingham’s first squad in Ann Arbor.

The interesting part about Guarnera hopping in the portal in the first place is that he told reporters down in Orlando during the week of the Citrus Bowl that he intended to stay with the program, but then entered the portal just a few days later anyways.

Regardless of the exact circumstances that led him to the portal, it’s good to have him officially back in the mix for the 2026 season. Welcome back, Jake!
