Aidan Chiles is leaving East Lansing, but he won't be going far – and he'll get a return visit sometime in 2026.
The former Michigan State football quarterback committed to Northwestern on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Pete Thamel of ESPN first reported Chiles' decision; the QB visited the Wildcats on Tuesday and was reportedly their first choice at the position.
The two-year starter at MSU stays in the Big Ten, heading across Lake Michigan to headline in Evanston, Illinois, as the Wildcats look to unveil their new $800 million stadium with some fireworks on offense. Chiles and Northwestern are set to face MSU in 2026 in East Lansing, with the date yet to be announced by the Big Ten.
Chiles, now on his third school after coming from Oregon State, joins an offense that brings noted guru Chip Kelly back to the college game after a one-season stint in the NFL. Kelly most recently won a national championship as Ohio State's offensive coordinator in 2024, and led UCLA and Oregon as head coach.
In his career at MSU from 2024-25, the 6-foot-3, 225-pound Chiles completed 60.8% of his passes for 3,807 yards, 23 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Chiles also ran for 452 yards and nine scores. He was benched for MSU's final four games of 2025.
MSU, meanwhile, still has Alessio Milivojevic at quarterback, and added former UCF starter Cam Fincher to its roster via the transfer portal on Tuesday.
Milivojevic threw 10 touchdowns to three interceptions in four starts and nine appearances this season for MSU (4-8), and rushed for one score. He was 111-for-173 (64.2% completion) for 1,267 passing yards.
Fancher played the first three years of his career at Marshall, then transferred to Florida Atlantic before playing with the Knights last year. He's played in 37 games in his career and passed for 5,727 yards, 27 touchdowns and 23 interceptions.
