Liverpool is expected to have a quiet window, with the focus on loan moves for a number of youngsters.
The Athletic’s first Transfer Deal Sheet roundup dropped yesterday, and of course, there’s a section on Liverpool FC with updates from James Pearce.
Pearce says with Liverpool’s £450million spend over the summer, it is likely to be a quiet winter transfer window for the Reds, although the Reds will react in the market if the right opportunity becomes available at the right price.
There are some relatively minor squad updates:
- Owen Beck and James McConnell have returned from loans at Derby County and Ajax Amsterdam, respectively, due to injuries cutting their stints short
- Stefan Bajcetic is not expected to leave on loan and will be continuing with the final stages of his rehabilitation.
- There’s interest in a loan move for Trey Nyoni from teams in the UK and Europe, but the player is viewed as an important part of Slot’s plans.
- Calvin Ramsay is attracting loan interest from Scottish clubs
- Rhys Williams could depart permanently before his contract runs out in the summer.
- Kostas Tsimikas’ loan at Roma could be terminated, as the player has not received game time.
- James Balagizi is also back at Liverpool for rehab after damaging his hamstring during a loan spell at Forest Green Rovers.
- Loans for under-21s regulars such as Trent Kone-Doherty, Kieran Morrison, Josh Davidson, Tommy Pilling and Terence Miles are being considered.
