The build-up…
It’s the meeting of the two surprise packages of this season’s Premier League and it’s a tough test for the Lads tonight.
We’re shouting it from the rooftops that we’ve remained unbeaten at home in the first half of the season and what an achievement that is from Le Bris’ side, but even though they’ve lost one, Brentford have taken one more point on home soil in the same number of games.
Only the top three have taken more points on their own patch and we have to look back to the 5th October for Keith Andrews’ side last defeat at Griffin Park. Their away form isn’t nearly as good, which is another sign of how impressive this record is since they sit on thirty points as they occupy seventh in the table – only ahead of us on goal difference.
Everyone thought the bubble had burst when Thomas Frank left to take the Spurs job, but Andrews has defied all of the predictions, although the pressure is firmly on holding their form at hom,e as only the bottom four have lost more than Brentford.
In all competitions, we’ve only taken on tonight’s opposition on twenty occasions. In the forty years between meetings in the league that ranged from 1947 and 1987, we took them on twice, once in the FA Cup and once in the League Cup and this is only our fourth trip to Griffin Park for a league game in the last forty years – the first in the top flight since 1946.
In the last four games, Le Bris’ side has shown how hard we are to beat; tonight we may need a similar performance.
The betting…
The bookies have the Lads at 16/5 to win the game, while Brentford are priced at 4/5, and the draw is 5/2.
