FC Bayern and Germany should be celebrating their young prodigy.
Bayern Munich wonderkid Lennart Karl is not shying away from his ambitions. The 17-year-old has rocketed into the conversation at the German record champions, going from preseason spark to Champions League-starting star. And while the youngster has not yet had his first senior team call-up, he is absolutely eyeing a shot at Julian Nagelsmann’s World Cup squad next summer.
“Of course I would love to go to the World Cup,” Karl said in recent comments at a fan event, as captured by Bild (via @iMiaSanMia). “I have to perform well and then we’ll see at the end whether it works out or not. Going to the World Cup at 17 would be something special. I’m working very hard and then hopefully I’ll be rewarded.”
Karl has been working hard indeed, and has been an absolute treat to watch. Bayern — and Germany — has something special on its hands, and it would be awesome to see him star not only this summer, but at many Men’s World Cups to come.
