Just six months after leaving SC Freiburg for Brøndby IF in Denmark, Michael Gregoritsch has returned to the German Bundesliga.
On Wednesday, FC Augsburg confirmed the signing of the Austrian international on loan, with an option to make the move permanent.
Gregoritsch is no stranger to the WWK-Arena, having played for Augsburg between 2017 and 2022 – and he is thrilled to be back.
"As soon as the opportunity to move to FCA came up, I was immediately excited," the striker said.
"The contact with Augsburg has never been broken, and I was determined to take on this challenge. I’m looking forward to reconnecting with old teammates and fondly remember my time under Manuel Baum. We want to build on that and quickly move out of the lower reaches of the table."
Augsburg sporting director Benni Weber commented:
"Michael has proven his qualities not only at FCA but also at other Bundesliga clubs. With him, we gain an experienced, strong aerial presence up front who can help our team both on and off the pitch and will be especially important in decisive moments."
Gregoritsch, 31, has struggled for game time at Brøndby this season, starting just four of 14 matches.
