The Hoosiers keep adding onto their defensive line through the transfer portal, landing a commitment from a Tulsa transfer.
Indiana keeps adding to its defensive front ahead of the 2026 offseason.
Joe Hjelle, a junior defensive lineman formerly of Tulsa, has committed to join the Hoosiers out of the transfer portal, per Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports. He’s rated as a 3-star prospect and ranks as the 107th highest-rated defensive lineman and 1038th highest-rated prospect overall. Before Tulsa, he spent two years at Iowa Western Community College and previously attended Decorah High School in Decorah, Iowa.
He made the most of his two seasons with the Golden Hurricane, picking up 65 total tackles (15 solo) and 2.5 sacks, with most of that production coming this past seas0n in 2025.
Indiana is no stranger to adding to its defensive line through the portal, making several moves in the past two offseasons to add edge and tackle talent. It’s paid off tremendously, with the Hoosiers generating consistent havoc and pressuring opposing quarterbacks in high stakes games including Oregon’s Dante Moore on the road and Ohio State’s Julian Sayin in the Big Ten Football Championship game.
