After running for a long touchdown in the second quarter, Lacy left the game against the Miami Hurricanes. He didn’t return in the first half, leaving the Rebels in need of a new face in the backfield.
Logan Diggs stepped in, getting significant snaps in Ole Miss’ biggest game of the season.

Who is Logan Diggs?
Logan Diggs is a fifth-year senior running back at Ole Miss. He is from Boutte, Louisiana and attended Archbishop Rummel High School, committing to Notre Dame as a prospect and joining the Irish in 2021.
Diggs spent two seasons at Notre Dame, running for 230 yards in eight games as a freshman, then 821 yards in 12 games as a sophomore. After the 2022 season, he entered the transfer portal, landing at LSU.
Diggs played for the Tigers in 2023, totaling 653 yards and seven touchdowns. Once again, after the 2023 season, he entered the portal.
Since 2024, Diggs has been at Ole Miss. He redshirted in 2024, however, appearing in just one game for the Rebels due to injury. His redshirt senior season came in 2025, when he's served as the top backup to Kewan Lacy.

What happened to Kewan Lacy?
Lacy didn't return to Thursday's CFP semifinal game after his 73-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. He tweaked a hamstring, according to the ESPN broadcast, and was absent from Ole Miss' offense for the remainder of the first half.
Lacy was seen working out on the sidelines, but his status remained up in the air for the game.
Why did Logan Diggs transfer from LSU to Ole Miss?
Diggs had a strong 2023 season at LSU, but in the team's Gator Bowl win to conclude that season, he suffered a knee injury. He underwent surgery, then decided to enter the transfer portal — and Ole Miss gave him an opportunity to recover from his injury.
“I knew right then that I didn’t have to take any more (recruiting) calls,” Diggs said, per Mississippi Scoreboard. “They said, ‘We want you to rehab, give it your all, maybe be able to play by the end of the (2024) season. And then be here for 2025.”
Diggs was afforded the chance to fully recover from his injury on a top-end SEC squad, then return and contribute to winning football when he was ready.
“This place, these people wanted me when I was at my lowest, when I had no hope," Diggs said of Ole Miss, per Mississippi Scoreboard. "I was injured right there before the NFL draft. I was turning pro after the bowl game. I remember my mom came down and watched the second half of the game on TV in the dressing room with me. We just sat there in silence. We didn’t know what God was trying to tell us or show us. God has a plan for everyone. He brought me to Ole Miss.
They helped me get healthy again. And now I hope I can give back to them.”
