Dana White has weighed in on the most intense rivalry the sport has ever seen.
As UFC CEO, he has been ringside for countless personal clashes over the years.
Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor is easily the most high-profile feud to come out of the organisation.
From a bus attack and arrests to an all-out melee following their fight at UFC 229, it was about as chaotic as it gets.
But according to Dana White, there is another pairing that topped even them.
Dana White names Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier as greatest UFC rivalry
In January 2015, Jones got the better of ‘DC’ over five rounds at UFC 182.
Two years later, their rematch saw Jones land a KO, but that result was later overturned after he tested positive for turinabol metabolite.
Their feud also featured a press conference brawl that is still fresh in White’s memory over a decade later.
When asked to name the greatest rivalry he has been a part of, the UFC boss replied: “It would absolutely be those two.
“They fist fought in the lobby of the MGM. Yeah, [Dave] Sholler blew that one.
“The hardest thing is, when you’re there, you are not there for a photo op. You are there to make sure these guys don’t touch or disrespect each other. Once somebody feels disrespected, they’ve gotta get theirs in.
“I don’t care who you the f— you are, you are not stopping s— once some of these guys decide to go.”
Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier 3
The long-standing feud between Jones and Cormier has resurfaced, this time over a Russian reality TV show.
Cormier said the two had verbally agreed to a trilogy fight during one of their heated exchanges on set, though it would take place under wrestling or boxing rules rather than MMA.
Despite efforts from Jones to bury the hatchet, he is now convinced that there is no going back between them. Speaking on Thursday, he did not hold back his thoughts on ‘DC’.
“What a stuffy, just d—head Cormier really is. I think if you really get to know Daniel Cormier, he’s really not (a nice person), he’s an a–hole, he really is an a–hole.
“He didn’t really connect with any of the fighters here, he’s just an a–hole. I tried to make peace with him many times, and he made it very clear that he wants to be enemies for life because of how lucrative it is, and he’s just – I don’t know.
“There was moments where we got to laugh, but for the most part, he’s a d—head.”
