Delaware State IOL Isaiah Cook Commits to Rutgers

Rutgers adds competition to center room.

Rutgers football has landed a commitment from Delaware State Interior Offensive Lineman Isaiah Cook. Cook committed to the Scarlet Knights with the intent to compete for the starting center job during his last year of college eligibility. He wants to use his last year in college to give himself the best chance he has to make the NFL.

He also acknowledged the fact that playing for Rutgers offensive line coach Jim Turner was a huge part of his decision to commit to Rutgers. He believes that with Turner’s guidance, he can elevate his game to the next level.

The six-foot-three and 300-pounder showed his versatility during his time with Delaware State, as he was plugged up and down their offensive line, while earning all-MEAC honors several times during the process

Joined the Hornets as a part of the 2021 recruiting class, and would take a redshirt his first year, occasionally being used as a reserve offensive lineman. During his sophomore season, he would earn the starting job and would go on to earn all-MEAC third team honors. During his sophomore season in 2023, he reached even greater heights, as he earned all-MEAC third team honors after starting nine games at center and one at Right guard.

His Junior season was cut short by injury. After he medically redshirted in 2024, he would return to the scene in 2025, where he would make five starts at right guard and four games at right tackle. He was named to the all-MEAC first team offense in 2025.

With the graduation of longtime center Gus Zilinskas, Cook will be competing with his younger brother Hank for the starting role. Hank played center for two years at Colorado before transferring to Rutgers last offseason. His addition also provides depth at other positions as well, as he has experience up and down the offensive line.
