Liberty Christian Academy Announces Retirement of Legendary Head Football Coach Frank Rocco

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR)— Liberty Christian Academy (LCA) Thursday announced that longtime Head Football Coach Frank Rocco will retire at the conclusion of the 2025–2026 school year, bringing to a close one of the most successful coaching tenures in the state’s history.

Coach Rocco retires as the winningest football coach in Liberty Christian Academy history, compiling an extraordinary 199–35 record over 20 seasons at LCA. Across his distinguished career, he amassed 294 total wins, including 14 seasons coaching in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania public schools.

Under Coach Rocco’s leadership, LCA football became a perennial powerhouse. His teams advanced to the postseason in 19 of his 20 seasons, capturing an impressive eight VISSA/VHSL state championships. Beyond wins and championships, Rocco’s impact extended to player development, with 85 of his athletes going on to play college football.

Prior to joining Liberty Christian Academy, Rocco served as Offensive Coordinator at Liberty University from 2000 to 2004, establishing his influence on football in the region.

In 2024, Coach Rocco was diagnosed with cancer. While he has continued to lead with strength and determination, he has shared that his decision to retire is centered on prioritizing his health and spending meaningful time with his family, including his seven grandchildren.
