Manchester United have been handed a major boost as Bryan Mbeumo is set to return against Manchester City later this month.
The Red Devils face Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup third-round this weekend, before they host the Citizens on January 17.
The Manchester titans will be looking for revenge against their bitter rivals following the humiliating 3-0 loss in the reverse fixture in September.
Mbeumo’s time at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) came to an end on Friday after Cameroon’s quarter-final loss to Morocco.
Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz nodded home the opener midway through the first half before Ismael Saibari put the game to bed with a late strike.
Mbeumo will be disappointed with Cameroon’s exit, but United supporters will be happy to have him back at Old Trafford.
The forward joined the club in the summer for a fee worth around £71 million.
He has made an impressive start to life in Manchester, scoring six goals and creating an assist in 16 Premier League appearances.
Mbeumo hasn’t played for the Red Devils since featuring in the 4-4 draw against Bournemouth in December.
He will return to a new manager at United as Ruben Amorim has been sacked after he launched an attack on the club’s hierarchy.
Darren Fletcher has been given interim charge, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be in the dugout for the Manchester derby.
