Pete Golding is building a special defense for 2026
Florida State safety Edwin Joseph Jr. has committed to transfer to Ole Miss for the 2026 keeping Pete Golding’s portal class among the tops in the country.
During the 2025 season, Joseph Jr. nabbed three interceptions and notched 37 total tackles for the Seminoles. He is ranked as one of the top five safeties in the transfer portal this year.
The Hollywood, Fla. native (6’0” 171 lbs) won the FSU freshman defensive player of the year in 2024 and came to Tallahassee as the No. 49 ranked prospect in the Sunshine state per on3. In high school, he played on both sides of the ball as he helped his team to back to back state championships.
He would be enrolling as a redshirt junior with two years of eligibility remaining in Oxford. Joseph makes the ninth transfer commitment for this portal cycle, and currently Ole Miss has the No. 6 nationally ranked class according to on3. It stands to reason Joseph would be heavily considered for a starting position on the 2026 defense.
Coach Golding’s transfer class has been more heavily represented on the defensive side of the football, but it is also full of former four and five star high school prospects across the southeast. There are still a handful of days remaining for players to enter the portal though Ole Miss has had only seven players decide to test the portal waters for another school.
