Milan and Inter are planning a Tunnel Club for their new San Siro stadium, in the style of Tottenham and Manchester City arenas, allowing fans to see players up close before kick-off.

The go-ahead has finally been given to build a new stadium in what is currently the parking lot of the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Once that is completed, then the current structure can be knocked down or transformed for different purposes.

New San Siro could copy Tottenham Stadium

It is still at the design stage and La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that one of the additions to the project planned by architects Manica and Foster + Partners is a Tunnel Club.

This is a group of fans with very select tickets who will be able to watch the players get ready in the tunnel just before kick-off, seeing them through a glass pane.

It will let them stand right next to the squads and look them in the eye in the build-up to the match.

This elite opportunity is already in action in the Tottenham Stadium and Manchester City’s Etihad, and specifically the Spurs project is one that particularly inspired the Milan clubs.

The new San Siro should have circa 71,500 seats in two tiers, and will be oval rather than San Siro’s iconic rectangular structure.
