Mark Pope gives Jaland Lowe injury update: Says all options are on the table

Could Jaland Lowe’s season be over?

The Kentucky Wildcats have struggled to start this season, but the injury bug has really bitten this UK team once again.

That continued once again Saturday night against Mississippi State, as Jaland Lowe left the game in the first four minutes of action after tweaking his shoulder once again on the defensive end of the floor. After swiping down for a steal, Lowe jogged straight to the tunnel and checked out of the game.

After his departure, the Cats came to a screeching halt as the Bulldogs opened up an 18-6 lead almost immediately.

Thankfully, Kentucky dominated from there and ended up winning 92-68 in what was surprisingly one of their best performances of the season, given they did virtually all of their damage after Lowe went out.

After the game, head coach Mark Pope said that they’ll learn more Sunday on Lowe’s status.

“We’ll know more tomorrow,” Pope said. “He just tweaked his shoulder, so we’ll kind of see how it responds in the morning and see where we are with that.”

Pope did admit that all options, including shutting down Lowe for good, are all on the table.

“I think all options are on the table, and he’ll meet with the doctors tonight, and then we’ll have some, you know, it’s always the next morning,” said Pope. “You kind of get a little bit more data and information, just from how it responds, and I think we’ll start the process of making an educated decision.

“It could be no games. It could be a few games. It could be all the games, you know. It could be any of those things.”

If the Cats hope to keep things moving in a positive direction, a healthy Lowe would go a long way in making that happen.

Going to be a major story to follow going forward.
