No. 15 Michigan State women's basketball takes down Oregon on road

Spartans push win streak to eight with 85-81 victory over Oregon.

Grace VanSlooten had a double-double in her return to her former school.

And she helped the No. 15-ranked Michigan State women’s basketball team complete an unbeaten western road trip.

The Spartans overcame another early deficit on its way to an 85-81 victory over Oregon on Sunday, Jan. 11.

VanSlooten had 11 of her 16 points in the second half and added eight rebounds in her return to Oregon where she spent the first two seasons of her college career.

VanSlooten was one of five players in double figures for MSU as it pushed its win streak to eight. Rashunda Jones led the way with 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting. She had 14 points n the second half.

Kennedy Blair had 11 points and Jalyn Brown and Emma Shumate each finished with 10 points for the Spartans.

MSU trailed by as much as 16 in the early stages of the second quarter before putting together a big run to get back in the game. The Spartans went on a 17-0 run in a stretch of just under 6 minutes while taking a 44-43 advantage at the half.

The Spartans then emerged in a back-and-forth second half and took the lead for good on a driving layup by Ines Sotelo with 3:09 to play. Sotelo, Jones and VanSlooten each had big points in the closing minutes for MSU as it wrapped up its latest win.
