Assumption kept the No. 1 spot in this week’s Kentucky High School Girls Basketball Elite 16 media poll.
The Rockets (9-4) received 14 of the 16 first-place votes after knocking off No. 2 George Rogers Clark 61-56 in triple overtime on Jan. 8.
Sacred Heart is ranked No. 3, and Calloway County and Simon Kenton are tied for fourth.
Assumption will face Sacred Heart at 6 p.m. on Jan. 18 at St. Xavier.
The Kentucky High School Girls Basketball Elite 16 is conducted by 16 sports journalists — one from each of the state’s 16 basketball regions. The poll will be released online each Tuesday morning throughout the regular season.
Along with the statewide top 16, voters will provide top-five rankings for their respective regions.
