End of the Madrid adventure: Xabi Alonso asked to leave his post

Reliable media sources reveal that Spanish coach Xabi Alonso was himself the driving force behind his exit from Real Madrid, contrary to the rumors that have been circulating in recent days.
According to reports from the Spanish daily AS, Alonso personally requested a meeting with club president Florentino Pérez to bring his time as head coach of the first team to an end. Both parties subsequently reached an amicable agreement to terminate the contract.
This decision came in the wake of Madrid’s defeat in the Spanish Super Cup final, which was played last Sunday against FC Barcelona (3-2).
Soon after, Real Madrid officially announced the appointment of Álvaro Arbeloa as the new head coach, replacing Xabi Alonso at the helm.
