Aston Villa are considering a move for Tammy Abraham if Donyell Malen leaves during the winter transfer window, according to The Athletic.
Malen has been linked with Italian side Roma, and La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed Villa have placed a €18 million valuation on the Dutch forward.
The Athletic now reports that the West Midlands side are not pushing for Malen’s exit, and as it stands, he is likely to remain at Villa Park for the rest of the season.
If the former Borussia Dortmund man leaves this winter, Villa are targeting Abraham as a replacement.
Abraham is currently at Besiktas, who have triggered the obligation to buy in his loan deal, but the Turkish side could be open to offers for the striker.
The Cobham academy graduate spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Villa, scoring 26 goals in 40 games, helping them secure Premier League promotion.
Manager Unai Emery holds a long-term interest in Abraham, dating back to his early days as Villa boss. The striker is reportedly open to a return to Villa .
Villa entered into the window with the intention of signing a young striker and announced the signing of Brian Madjo from French outfit Metz on Monday.
The club are also pursuing a move for a midfielder. They had contacted Atletico Madrid regarding Conor Gallagher, but the England international has now opted to join Tottenham Hotspur instead.
With Villa eyeing a top-four finish and success in the FA Cup and UEFA Europa League, the club must reinforce their squad before the transfer window closes.
