Boston Legacy adds to their frontline with experienced international player
Boston Legacy announced today the acquisition of forward Nichelle Prince in a trade with KC Current in exchange for $125,000 in allocation funds and $50,000 in intra-league transfer funds. Boston will also receive a 2026 international roster spot as part of the deal.
“Nichelle (Prince) is a proven NWSL player who brings real quality and experience to our group. She’s competed at the highest level and knows what it takes to win, both in this league and internationally with Canada,” said Legacy general manager Domè Guasch in a statement. “She adds pace, intelligence, and versatility, and we believe her profile fits exactly what we want to build in Boston. Just as important, (Prince) is a strong presence off the field, someone who will raise standards and help drive our culture from day one and into the future.”
The 30-year-old forward has joined the NWSL’s Houston Dash following four seasons in college with Ohio State University. Prince notched 23 goal contributions across six seasons with the Dash before joining KC Current in 2024. With the Current she had six goal contributions across two seasons and scored the final goal of the regular season to cap off the NWSL Shield winning season.
The 30-year-old has a decorated career with the Canada Women’s National team with 6,200 minutes across 126 appearances since her debut with the senior national team at just 17 years old in January 2013. With the National team Prince has earned multiple medals across CONCACAF competitions, and appeared in three world cups, two Olympic Games. Most notably, she was a member of the Canada team that won a gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics knocking off Brazil, the United States and Sweden in the tournament.
Prince primarily played on the right side as a winger last season and is signed through the 2026, but will have a mutual option to stay with Boston in 2027.
