Girona are keen but there’s nothing happening right now.
Deco has offered a fresh update on Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s future at Barcelona amid continued talk about a potential January move to Girona on loan.
Ter Stegen has lost his place in the starting XI to Joan Garcia and is wanted by Michel’s side. However, a move to Girona is difficult because of his high salary.
Deco has been asked for an update on the situation and says there’s not much happening right now.
“At the moment there’s nothing to suggest he’ll leave. We’re happy with Marc,” he told RAC1.
“The first priority was for him to recover from his injury, and he’s already played a cup match and is available for selection. Beyond that, if any player isn’t comfortable because they need to play, we’ll listen and try to help.”
Ter Stegen has been told again this winter by Germany sporting director Rudi Voller that he needs to be playing if he wants to be the team’s No. 1 at World Cup 2026. A move may still happen before the window closes, but it’s not looking imminent as things stand.
