Providence Preview
- The Friars have twelve new skaters on this year’s roster, headlined by freshman Roger McQueen.
- With seven total upperclassmen, this is one of Providence’s younger rosters, but they return five of their top six scorers from last year.
- Starting goalie Philip Svedbäck suffered an injury prior to this series – as a result, the Friars brought on ECHL goalie Michael Simpson. Freshman Jack Parsons earned his first career sweep against Maine last weekend, and has a .917 save percentage in three games.
- On offense, McQueen leads the team with 18 points in 20 games, followed by sophomore Logan Sawyer, who has 16 points.
What to Watch For
- Oscar Hemming. The Eagles added Hemming to the roster midyear, and the freshman got his first taste of college hockey against Western Michigan and Lake State. Despite not having played for a majority of the season, Hemming didn’t look too out of place – and has two points already to show for it.
- Momentum. Last season, not having a midseason exhibition caused the Eagles to enter their first matchup of 2025 extremely rusty. This year, not only did a majority of the team shake off the rust in Milwaukee, they also looked good in their exhibition against Stonehill – tallying four goals in the first period. Though it was an exhibition, the team played as expected despite injuries and illnesses on the roster and there were no real red flags. They’ll look to carry that momentum into this weekend.
