In a recent report, Dutch news outlet Soccer News revealed that Manchester City are in advanced talks to land Vélez Sarsfield winger Maher Carrizo. It has been mentioned that the Mancunian club are showing interest in recruiting the Argentine wide player this year.

Carrizo’s Impressive Rise In Argentine Football

The 19-year-old has come through the youth ranks of the Argentine club and has done well to establish himself as an important member of their first team. Carrizo has already made 51 senior appearances for Sarsfield so far, scoring 11 times and earning three assists in various competitions.

The Argentine attacker is currently among the best young wingers in South American football. Hence, it is no surprise that Man City are hoping to get a deal over the line for him this year.

His current contract at the Argentine club will run out at the end of 2027, which could open the door for the Mancunian club to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.

Carrizo is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it out on the flanks. He has also got the eye to play some killer passes in and around the opponent’s penalty area and can shoot the ball well from long range.

The Argentine sensation is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also operate as a centre-forward if needed. However, there are some concerns over whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League.

Carrizo would undoubtedly bring more quality and depth to Man City boss Pep Guardiola’s attack in the long run. He is already good enough to serve as a decent, rotational piece in the Mancunian club’s squad.

At 19, Carrizo has got the potential to be a future star in English football as long as he continues to develop with each year. He is a star in the making, so Guardiola would be wise to step up his efforts to acquire the services of the Argentine talent this winter or at the end of this campaign.
