Official: Roma Signs Robinio Vaz

He was barely a blip on the radar last week, but Roma moved quickly to close on Robinio Vaz.

After spending the entire summer single-mindedly chasing Jadon Sancho, only to be left holding the bag when he spurned Roma’s advances—forcing the club into a hasty loan of Leon Bailey—Gian Piero Gasperini and Frederic Massara seemingly learned their lesson. Rather than waiting for Giacomo Raspadori to give the all-clear to join the Giallorossi or hoping that Manchester United would relinquish their grasp on Joshua Zirkzee, Roma took matters into their own hands.

Earlier today, the club officially unveiled its latest signing, Robinio Vaz. An 18-year-old forward, Vaz arrives from Marseilles on a deal rumored to be worth €25 million.

From the official club release:

AS Roma is delighted to announce the signing of Robinio Vaz from Marseille on a permanent transfer.

The 18-year-old striker has penned a four-year deal running until 2030.

Born in Mantes-la-Jolie on 17 February 2007, Robinio developed in the academy teams of Mantes and Sochaux before joining Marseille in 2024.

He made his senior debut for Roberto De Zerbi’s side on 14 January 2025 in a Coupe de France match against Lille. He went on to make his Ligue 1 debut the same season and his Champions League bow this season, collecting 22 appearances in all competitions with four goals.

Vaz is considered to be one of France’s brightest under 20 prospects.

He has chosen to wear the No.78 shirt for Roma.

We’ll have to wait and see how quickly Gasperini throws Vaz into the deep end, but with a glut of fixtures upcoming, don’t expect Vaz to be sitting on the sidelines too long.
