One of Penn State’s all-time greats will now be recognized as one of college football’s all-time greats.
Running back Ki-Jana Carter was named to the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame Class. He will be inducted in December 2026.
Carter was a unanimous All-American and finished second for the Heisman Trophy back in 1994 as he ran for more than 1,500 yards in leading Penn State to an undefeated regular season, its first Big Ten title, and its first Rose Bowl win.
The Westerville, Ohio native ran for nearly 3,000 yards and accumulated 30 touchdowns during his Penn State career. He was drafted first overall in the 1995 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals, though a knee injury limited his career.
But, as a Lion, Carter was the centerpiece of Penn State’s famed 1994 offense. He most famously broke free for an 83-yard touchdown run on his way to a three-touchdown performance in his final Penn State game, a 38-20 win against Oregon that capped Penn State’s 12-0 season.
Carter also won all-conference honors in 1993 as he helped the Lions to a 10-2 mark and a Citrus Bowl title.
Carter will be the 19th Penn State player inducted and the first since Paul Posluszny back in 2024.
