Ohio State gets transfer commitment from Baylor kicker Connor Hawkins

Baylor kicker Connor Hawkins has committed to transfer to Ohio State, filling one of the Buckeyes' biggest needs.

Ohio State received a verbal commitment from Baylor transfer kicker Connor Hawkins on Jan. 14.

"Let’s roll!" he wrote on X.

He adds to this week’s ever-growing portal haul for the Buckeyes, who have picked up seven transfers in a span of just four days.

Baylor kicker Connor Hawkins (96) made three 50-plus-yard field goals last season, including a long of 54 yards.

Hawkins fills one of the most pressing needs for the Buckeyes as they were left without a kicker on the roster when backup Jackson Courville reentered the portal earlier this month. Jayden Fielding, who handled the kicking duties in recent years, had exhausted his eligibility.

The addition of Hawkins could also prove to be an upgrade at the position due his range. He made three 50-plus-yard field goals last season, including a long of 54 yards.

The Buckeyes have not had a kicker make a 50-yard field goal since Blake Haubeil in 2019.

Hawkins made 18 of 22 field-goal attempts, including two game-winners, and all 37 extra-point tries last fall. He was an honorable mention All-Big 12 selection in his first full season as the Bears’ starting kicker. He had redshirted as a freshman in 2024 when he appeared in just two games.

A native of Liberty Hill, Texas, he was a three-star recruit when he signed with Baylor as part of the 2024 class.
