Wyndham Clark has welcomed Brooks Koepka’s return to the PGA Tour — but admits he’s uneasy about how straightforward the process was.
The rule has split opinion among players. For Wyndham Clark, the issue isn’t personal — it’s about fairness in the sport.
Wyndham Clark ‘torn’ over Brooks Koepka’s Return
Speaking on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio, 2023 U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark said he was conflicted about the decision.
His comments highlight the ongoing tension surrounding players coming back from LIV Golf, especially under the Tour’s updated policies.
“I personally really like Brooks, and I think it’s ultimately really good for the PGA Tour,” Clark said. “But also, it’s kind of frustrating that he’s able to get the cake and also eat it, so I’m very torn.”
“If you would have told me that I could have gone for a year-and-a-half, make a boatload of money, and then be able to come back, I think almost everyone would have done that.”
Clark’s words highlight a divide between loyalty and opportunity. He had turned down a LIV offer after his major win, choosing to stay with the PGA Tour during its most uncertain period.
Brooks Koepka’s return has divided opinion
Brooks Koepka’s appearance at the Farmers Insurance Open later this month will be his first under the PGA Tour’s new Returning Member Program.
The policy, introduced this year, permits players who’ve spent more than two years away to rejoin if they’ve won a major within the past four seasons.
The Returning Member Program requires former players to forfeit equity shares for five years, skip FedEx Cup bonuses for 2026, and donate $5 million to charity. The PGA Tour sees this as a middle ground between punishment and reconciliation.
Clark’s perspective captures the complex feelings across the PGA Tour. He supports Koepka’s talent and understands the value of big names returning.
Yet he remains uneasy about how swiftly the path back was cleared. His view reflects a sport still finding balance between loyalty, money, and second chances.
