Colorado has already assembled a strong transfer portal class, but here are five players still in the portal who could make it even better.
The Colorado Buffaloes have been nothing if not active in the transfer portal window, already bringing in 35 recruits for the No. 17 class in the nation.
From under-the-radar gems like Sacramento State's Jaquail Smith to top prospects like Texas' DeAndre Moore, the Buffs' staff has been working overtime to completely renovate a disappointing 3-9 roster. They've put together an impressive class, but they're still short of replacing the 38 outgoing transfers from the team, which includes key contributors like DJ McKinney and Jordan Seaton.
With the transfer portal closing on Friday, Colorado will need to make a late push to close that gap. Here are five still uncommitted prospects the Buffs should keep their eye on.
LB Trey Lathan - Kansas
Linerbacker was a massive hole on Colorado's roster last season, and it cost them severely in games against dominant running teams. While they've done work to address that, landing Lathan would be a cherry on top and completely bolster the off-ball linebacker room. A two-year starter with the Jayhawks, Lathan compiled 165 tackles, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception in that time.
OL Davion Weatherspoon - Ohio
With Seaton's departure, the offensive line once again becomes a prime area of concern for Colorado. Primarily an interior lineman, Weatherspoon is one of the best linemen left in the portal. The 6-foot, 303-pound lineman started 14 games for the Bobcats last season, earning a first-team All-MAC selection in the process. An experienced, savvy presence up front would do wonders, helping to fill the massive gap left by Seaton.
DL D'antre Robinson - North Carolina
The Buffs have leaned into rebuilding their pass rush in the portal, and it's easy to envision Robinson as another piece to that puzzle. While his stats are a bit underwhelming, only recording 39 tackles and half a sack in his one season with the Tar Heels, the 6-foot-4 freshman carries all the athleticism that made him a four-star prospect coming out of high school. Taking a young physical freak like Robinson and putting him in the hands of a Hall of Famer in Warren Sapp could be a recipe for a diamond in the rough.
CB Warren Roberson - Texas
Nearly every corner who saw significant playing time for Colorado in 2025 has graduated or entered the portal, leaving a massive need at the position. Roberson, who saw extended playing time in the Citrus Bowl, showed flashes of his potential against Michigan. He totaled 27 tackles and two passes defensed in his two seasons as a Longhorn, but bringing in an SEC-level corner with upside is precisely the type of player the Buffs should chase late in the cycle.
EDGE Blake Purchase - Oregon
The Denver, Colorado, native struggled to find consistent playing time with the Ducks, but had a breakout year in 2025. Purchase totaled 32 tackles, two sacks and one interception last season, showing out in Oregon's beatdown of Texas Tech in the Orange Bowl. If the Buffs can get Purchase to come home, it would be another intense, high-level athlete to lead a defensive turnaround in 2026.
