The No. 16 made yet another important contribution after coming off the bench.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick had some kind words of praise for Fermin Lopez after seeing him come off the bench and set up the opener for Ferran Torres in Thursday’s Copa del Rey win against Racing.
Lopez is enjoying a great season for Barcelona and his performances certainly haven’t got unnoticed by his manager.
“He’s special. Not all players are like him. I like his attitude, his dynamism… he changes the course of a match with his movement, his passing… he also scores,” he told reporters.
“He’s always in the right position. He’s a very good player for us.”
Joan Garcia also got a mention after making a vital late save to prevent the game being taken into extra-time.
“Joan made a great save. And he keeps another clean sheet,” he added.
“Joan played because we decided to, and it was a good decision after watching the game. We’ll see in the next Cup matches; I haven’t decided yet. He might play them all, it will depend on whether he’s tired.”
And Flick also hailed his team’s attitude after seeing his players forced to work hard against a determined home side.
“For Racing, this is one of the most important matches in recent years. These matches aren’t won on reputation, they’re won on attitude,” he explained.
“We had a great attitude and the team played very seriously, with the right mentality, and that’s what I like most. Racing played a great match; maybe next year we’ll see them in the First Division, we’d like that.”
