The couple that wins together stays together — at least when it comes to Australian tennis players Maddison Inglis and Jason Kubler.

One month after Inglis, 28, revealed on Instagram that she and Kubler, 32, got engaged, she announced more exciting news: that she and her fiancé qualified for the Australian open main draw in their individual events and would be competing.

On Instagram, she reshared a video from the Australian Open showing the pair’s recent game that helped them earn their spot in the tournament along with a sweet video of the couple sharing an embrace after it was announced that they would be going through.

She could be seen asking him, “You won as well?,” as he noted that his opponent “pulled out.” She added, “No way,” before giving him an emotional hug as they both basked in the special moment.

Kubler could also be seen conducting an interview in which he shared that he was “very happy” at the news that they both qualified. He noted that they “got engaged almost a month ago now” and was already getting tons of questions about the wedding.

“I’m getting the ‘when is the wedding?’ questions and stuff like that but that’s a long time in the future. So right now, [we’re just focusing] on the tennis. Hopefully Maddy can keep going,” he shared.

The couple earned their qualification spots within an hour of each other, and for Inglis, it was her first main draw qualification since 2022, according to the Australian Broadcast Corporation (ABC).

Kubler, who watched her take the win in a match against opponent Tamara Korpatsch from Germany, told ABC, "To see her get over the hump and qualify — it's just so cool.”

"I would actually say I felt happier watching her do that than I did at the end of my match,” he added.

As for Inglis, she told ABC that she initially didn’t realize that her fiancé had won and also gone through, recalling, "I saw he lost the first set and then he was over to my match not too much longer after, so I was like, 'Oh bugger, he must have lost in straight [sets].”

However, she was wrong and was delighted when she found out. "It was a really special moment. It’s not every day you both get through qualifying, and are in the main draw of a grand slam.”

“Our first time to rotto was pretty special 🥰🥰🩷🩷💍💍,” she captioned the photos.

It is unclear how long Inglis and Kubler have been dating, but the athlete has been sharing photos of the two since February 2023. She shared a snap of the two taking a selfie side-by-side with the caption, “a few special moments from the Aus summer.”
