USC commit Aaryn Washington transferring to IMG for HS senior season

Aaryn Washington is the No. 51 overall football recruit in the class of 2027. For his high school senior year he's transferring from Mater Dei to IMG.

Mater Dei, California, cornerback Aaryn Washington, one of the top prospects in the Class of 2027, has announced he is transferring to IMG Academy for his senior season. The move was shared Friday through a post on his Instagram account.

Washington, a four‑star USC commit, pledged to the Trojans during last week's Navy All-American Bowl. He told Rivals reporter Greg Biggins that staying close to home and his strong relationship with USC’s coaching staff were key factors in his decision. “It’s the local school for me, and I have a great relationship with the entire coaching staff,” Washington said.

The transfer sends Washington across the country to Bradenton, Florida, where IMG Academy finished the 2025 season 9-0 and ranked No. 6 in the final 2025 USA TODAY Super 25 football poll, the top ranked team in the state. Mater Dei finished ranked No. 11 in that poll at 8-3.

Aaryn Washington, Mater Dei cornerback, soaks up the atmosphere of the game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas Longhorns at Ohio Stadium on Aug. 30, 2025.

Washington missed most of his junior season due to injury. According to Max Preps he had 10 tackles in two games. As a sophomore in 2024, he recorded 20 tackles and three interceptions. He enters his senior year ranked as the No. 51 rated prospect in the country, according to 247 Sports, including the 5th best prospect in Florida and the 8th best cornerback prospect.

Washington is expected to join the Ascenders this summer as he prepares for his final high school season and eventual arrival at USC.
