Buffalo Bills at Denver Broncos: Divisional Round game chat

Two teams will enter. One team will move on to the AFC Championship Game. It’s Bills vs Broncos.

The Buffalo Bills and the Denver Broncos are set to meet today with a berth in the AFC Championship Game on the line. Today’s game is the third playoff meeting between the two franchises, and it’s the second consecutive season where the teams have met in the postseason.

Last year, the second-seeded Bills easily dispatched the seventh-seeded Broncos, winning 31-7 at Highmark Stadium. The first playoff game between these two teams was the 1991 AFC Championship Game, which was also played in Orchard Park, NY. While that game featured a matchup between two Hall of Fame quarterbacks—Jim Kelly for the Bills and John Elway for the Broncos—it was Buffalo’s defense that stole the show, as nose tackle Jeff Wright deflected a pass that linebacker Carlton Bailey intercepted and returned for a touchdown, the only Buffalo touchdown in an eventual 10-7 victory.

Today’s quarterback matchup is a much-anticipated one, as well, as second-year man Bo Nix leads Denver against Buffalo’s Josh Allen, the reigning NFL MVP. Denver’s fearsome pass rush will be a key to victory for the men in orange, while Buffalo’s offensive line—and its ability to keep Allen clean while creating space for running back James Cook III—will be one of the biggest keys to victory for the Bills.
