Newcastle United visit Molineux Stadium to take on a rejuvenated Wolverhampton Wanderers side on Sunday afternoon.
The Magpies have found their feet following a disastrous start to the season, although their away form is still nothing to write home about.
Newcastle have one of the worst away records in the Premier League, winning just two of their 10 fixtures outside St. James’ Park (D3, L5).
However, they’d hope their most recent 3-1 win against relegation-battling Burnley at Turf Moor will spark a much-needed resurgence away from home.
That win over Burnley snapped a three-match winless streak in the Premier League, where a couple of 1-0 defeats against Sunderland and Manchester United came on either side of a 2-2 draw with Chelsea.
Interestingly, it also marked the start of a three-match league winning streak that pushed them into the top half of the table.
Eddie Howe’s side will be keen to stretch that run to four games on the bounce for the first time this season, knowing a win will take them to within a point of fourth-placed Liverpool.
Newcastle are coming into this fixture on the back of a dramatic 4-3 win against Leeds United at St. James’ Park, so the dressing room is brimming with confidence.
Their record against the basement boys will also fuel their confidence, after going eight league games without tasting defeat against Wolves (W6, D2).
They’ve also won the last four consecutive meetings with Wolves heading into this fixture.
How Newcastle could line up
Newcastle were brought back down to earth after a 2-0 EFL Cup semi-final first-leg defeat against Manchester City in midweek, so Howe will likely make five changes for the Wolves clash.
Nick Pope should keep his place in goal while Kieran Trippier returns to partner Malick Thiaw, Sven Botman, and Lewis Hall in defence.
Sandro Tonali and Joe Willock will likely be recalled on either side of Bruno Guimaraes in midfield.
Nick Woltemade is also expected to be recalled to the starting XI with Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes on the flanks.
