Vijay Singh finished T-40 at the 2026 Sony Open in Hawaii, beating the likes of past major winners Brian Harman, Zach Johnson and Webb Simpson.
Vijay Singh can still hang with the kids on the PGA Tour.
The 62-year-old Singh shot four rounds of par or better at Waialae Country Club, not far from Waikiki Beach on Oahu, closing with 1-under 69 on Sunday at the Sony Open in Hawaii for a 72-hole total of 5-under 275.
Stats guru Justin Ray of Twenty First Group noted that Singh is just the fourth player to break 70 three times in a week on the Tour at age 62 or older in the last 20 years.
He joined Tom Watson, who did it twice at the Greenbrier in 2013-14, and Bernhard Langer at Harbour Town in 2020 at the RBC Heritage.

Players to break 70 three times in a week on the PGA Tour at age 62 or older, last 20 years
2013 Tom Watson, Greenbirer
2014 Tom Watson, Greenbrier
2020 Bernhard Langer, RBC Heritage
2026 Vijay Singh, Sony Open
Singh finished T-40, beating the likes of past major winners Brian Harman, Zach Johnson and Webb Simpson, past FedEx Cup champion Billy Horschel and 20-somethings Nick Dunlap, David Ford and Tom Kim.
Not too shabby considering he ranked 71st of 75 players in driving distance at 282.9 but he was sharp around the greens, ranking 12th in Strokes Gained: Around the Green.
Singh is a World Golf Hall of Fame member, a 34-time winner on Tour and three-time major winner, including the 2000 Masters. With over $71 million in career earnings, Singh ranks sixth on the Tour’s all-time money list. And yet still there was social-media angst that Singh was stealing a spot from a young buck on the rise. After all, Singh’s most recent made cut came at the 2020 Memorial, where he finished T-62.
What most fans didn’t know was that Singh, always one of the hardest working men in golf, started working with a new trainer late last season at the recommendation of his former caddie, Paul Tesori, who got help with his own back injury.
“He is strong and energized,” Tesori wrote in a text to Golfweek. “He wants to have a big year on the Senior Tour and play Augusta. Those are his goals.”
I owe a huge amount of gratitude to @theyassmethod for helping me to recover from my back, ankle and knee issues that I had last year. It was tough to get through most rounds, and I’m proud of the work we’ve done to get me competition ready in such a short timeframe. Since I… pic.twitter.com/Sb0tM3UgWV

Singh became the oldest player to make a PGA Tour cut since Fred Couples, who was 63 at the time, at the 2023 Masters. Singh also played the weekend on the PGA Tour for the fourth different decade, dating to the 1992 Memorial, where he finished T-7.
Singh now has made 506 of 638 cuts in his PGA Tour career. Looks as if his game is well-oiled and ready for the PGA Tour Champions kickoff on the Big Island at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship next week.
