Scottie Scheffler will begin his 2026 PGA Tour campaign this week at The American Express.

The world number one will be at La Quinta, aiming to continue his winning form from 2025.

Scheffler picked up six wins last season, including two majors, and now needs only the US Open to complete the Career Grand Slam.

At this point, the only real question around Scheffler is just how long he can keep this level of play going.

Given how long he’s held the top spot in the world, it wouldn’t be shocking if he doesn’t quite hit those heights again this year.

Even so, expectations remain high. Many believe another strong season is in store.

Taylor Zarzour was asked on 5 Clubs whether he thinks Scheffler will rack up four wins and a major in 2026. His answer left little room for doubt.

“I’m taking the over. Isn’t that crazy? What this guy has done in the last four years – you did a very good job of setting the line too because that’s about what it would be. As long as this guy is motivated and has that dogged determination to win, and he’s going to turn 30 this summer, he’s still in his prime years, yeah, I think he’s going to win five-plus tournaments,” he began by saying.

“I think he’s going to win this week at The American Express. I don’t know how you could pick against him with how much talent he possesses. His mind is so sharp on every single shot. It’s going to be a great field this week for The American Express, so I’m excited to see the competition that Scottie is going to have.”

Zarzour added: “I expect him to win five-plus times and at least win one major championship in 2026. I think we’re watching one of the five to 10 best male golfers of all-time right now in the middle of his prime, and I think everybody should sit back and enjoy it.

“I really hope that a Xander Schauffele or a Rory McIlroy, or someone we’re not thinking about, emerges this year and really fights it out with Scottie throughout the entire season. That would make it a lot of fun.”

Scottie Scheffler hints at a strong start to 2026

One thing that could trouble players like Schauffele and McIlroy is how sharp Scheffler looks heading into this year, compared to where he was at this time in 2025.

He missed the start of last season with a hand injury, did not play until Pebble Beach, and did not look fully up to speed until around May. It took some time for him to settle in.

The cancellation of The Sentry this year has once again affected his playing schedule. Nevertheless, he has had the opportunity to focus on practice and gain valuable repetitions on the course since the Hero World Challenge.

If Scheffler comes out strong and is in contention right away at The American Express, it will not go unnoticed across the PGA Tour.
