Inter Milan striker Francesco Pio Esposito opened up on his feelings about scoring his first Champions League goal.

Speaking to UEFA TV magazine via FCInter1908, the 20-year-old starlet admitted it was a moment he will never forget.

Despite lacking experience in top-flight football, Francesco Pio Esposito earned the manager’s trust from the start.

Therefore, Inter turned down several substantial offers in the summer, including Napoli’s €40 million bid.

Meanwhile, the Italian youngster has repaid Chivu’s trust with a string of outstanding performances this season.

Despite scoring just four goals in 25 appearances, Esposito has become a vital part of the squad.

Only last week, he scored a second-half winner in a 1-0 home league victory over Lecce.

Furthermore, he set up Lautaro Martinez for the winning goal against Udinese at the weekend.

Esposito has made three starts in the Champions League this term, finding the net in a 4-0 rout of Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in October.

“It was a special feeling,” the teenager revealed. “A few minutes earlier, I’d missed an ‘easy’ chance, and I was a bit nervous.

“However, I think I did well not to give up. And in that moment, I have to thank Bonny again.

“He found me with his eyes and played the ball to me, and that’s how I scored my first Champions League goal.”

Then, he thanked Chivu for trusting him.

“Before going into the dressing room for the first time, I was definitely a bit anxious about making myself known and breaking the ice straight away.

“The best advice I’ve been given recently came from coach Cristian Chivu: he told me not to overthink things, in general.

“I’ve known him for many years because in his first season as a coach, he trained me and my teammates in Inter’s U14s.”

Finally, he explained the reasoning behind his decision to wear the No. 94 shirt.

“The number 94 is linked to the neighbourhood where I was born, called Rione Cicerone.

“When you enter, there’s a mural that reads ‘Cicero 94’ – it’s the symbolic number of the area.”
