'I still think this Liverpool side can win the Champions League'

Perhaps this is an indication of how bad a season Liverpool are having, but I watched the 1-1 draw with Burnley feeling largely pleased. If Liverpool had won 5-0, there would be nobody saying the scoreline was unfair. The Reds were not only dominant in possession - as they always are - but, more importantly, created lots of chances and should have simply put the game to bed.

It's not Arne Slot's fault that Dominik Szoboszlai missed a penalty, or that Hugo Ekitike's goal was ruled out for offside, or that Alexis Mac Allister's blasts over at the death when hitting the target was easier.

The football Liverpool played was slick. Florian Wirtz was genuinely sensational. The best player on the pitch by a country mile. He's now providing a regular end product and is no longer getting knocked off the ball. A lot of my excitement and positivity comes from watching Wirtz and his link up with Ekitike. Curtis Jones was good, again. Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong are an effective overlapping full-back duo.

Obviously drawing at home to a side who will likely get relegated isn't ideal, though. Slot's main challenge is maintaining Liverpool's standards throughout a game. In the last 20 minutes, it felt like the Reds were so dumbfounded by the fact it was 1-1, they didn't know how to get themselves back up for it.

I know it may sound crazy, but I still think this Liverpool side can win the Champions League.
