Big Bend boys hoops heats up as rankings shift, milestones fall and the playoff push begins with two weeks left.

With the Florida High School Athletic Association postseason just around the corner, Big Bend boys basketball teams are making their final push as the regular season enters its final two weeks.

Here’s a look back at last week’s action and where teams stand in the latest Big Bend power rankings.

Godby, Crossroad Academy rise into top two

A shakeup at the top of the rankings followed Lincoln’s first loss of the season last week, a setback that allowed Crossroad Academy and Godby to move into the top two spots.

Lincoln fell to Crossroad Academy before the Scorpions dropped a close 56-53 decision to Miramar on Jan. 16. Crossroad stands at 10-3 on the season.

Crossroad Academy will host Leon in a key matchup Jan. 20 at 7:30 p.m. Lincoln looks to rebound Jan. 21 against Rickards in a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.

Godby, meanwhile, has won five straight games, four by double-digit margins. The Cougars improved to 14-4 and will host Florida High on Jan. 20 at 7 p.m.

Gabe Parks reaches 1,000-point milestone

Chiles' star Gabe Parks reached the 1,000-point mark for his career on Jan. 13, scoring 20 points in a 58-42 win over North Florida Christian.

Parks ranks among the Big Bend’s top scorers, averaging 23.8 points per game this season.

Chiles has won three straight games and improved to 10-9. The Timberwolves travel to Mosley on Jan. 20 for a 7 p.m. game, then face Munroe and Leon in back-to-back contests on Jan. 22-23.
