Auburn basketball used a valiant second half effort to earn its first SEC win of the season. Here are the players that made it happen.
Auburn basketball earned its first SEC road win of the season on Tuesday, taking down Ole Miss, 78-66.
The game started slowly for Auburn, which shot 33% as a team in the first half and an abysmal 1-of-10 from three-point territory. Auburn's stars, Tahaad Pettiford and Keyshawn Hall, each scored seven points in the half, but combined to make just 3-of-12 shots from the field.
Auburn made necessary adjustments at halftime and played more efficiently in the final 20 minutes, with Hall, Pettiford, and Murphy all scoring over 10 points in the half, and they closed the game with a 7-0 run to solidify the win.
After the game, the writers at Auburn Wire submitted their picks for "Tiger of the Game", with Auburn fans supplying the tie-breaking vote. Here is a look at the top players from Auburn basketball's win over Ole Miss on Tuesday.
Taylor Jones: Keyshawn Hall
Hall led all scorers with 19 points on Tuesday, with 12 of those points coming in the second half. He is beginning to find a groove again, as he went 4-for-10 from the field after making a combined four shots total over the last two games. Hall also reached double-figures in points on Tuesday after scoring just eight points in Saturday's win over South Carolina, which snapped a 16-game double-digit scoring streak.
Phillip Jordan: Keshawn Murphy
Murphy's tear through the SEC continued Tuesday as he logged a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. He has now reached double-figures in points in four of Auburn's six SEC games and now has two double-doubles against SEC foes. Before SEC play, Murphy scored over 10 points just three times.
Jac Myrick: Tahaad Pettiford
Sophomore guard Tahaad Pettiford had a nice last three minutes of play to cap off this road win. He scored seven points in those remaining minutes; overall, he shot 5-of-12 from the floor for 17 points, two rebounds, and three assists. A good way for Pettiford to bounce back some momentum.
Fan vote: Keshawn Murphy
Auburn fans have spoken, and they have chosen Keshawn Murphy as their "Tiger of the Game" for his performance in Auburn's win at Ole Miss. He receivied 80% of the vote, beating out Tahaad Pettiford, Keyshawn Hall, and Sebastian Williams-Adams. To have a say in who wins the next Tiger of the Game, visit Auburn Wire on X after every game.
