Following their victory in the Manchester derby, Manchester United supporters are now confident they will sign Chelsea’s star Cole Palmer in the near future.
Palmer has had a tough season, struggling with injuries that have kept him out of action for much of the year.
His absence was felt in the Champions League match against Pafos, and he has only managed five goals in all competitions so far this season.
Liam Rosenior has spoken positively about what Palmer has brought to the team, but there have been reports suggesting he is not enjoying life in London.
Ben Jacobs plays down Cole Palmer to Manchester United talk
United supporters have since made a connection regarding the possibility of signing Chelsea’s No. 10, often recalling a childhood picture showing him in their shirt.
However, Ben Jacobs poured cold water on the speculation during an appearance on TheUnitedStand, saying he has not heard anything to suggest there is truth to it. According to him, it is not something that is going to happen anytime soon.
“I am not aware of Manchester United trying for Cole Palmer. It’s clear he loved living in Manchester but it’s unclear if there has been a turning point in London where he is now unhappy,” Jacobs stated.
“Chelsea don’t want to sell, so it feels like a non-starter and I’d be surprised if United made a move for another 10 following Mbeumo and Cunha signings.”
Another big club may be in the frame for Cole Palmer
Palmer made the move to Chelsea from Manchester City, where chances under Pep Guardiola were few and far between.
Now, Enzo Maresca is reportedly a frontrunner to take over from the Spaniard, should the latter opt to conclude his time in the Premier League.
In that context, there are growing rumours that Palmer could join Maresca at the Etihad, building on their connection from their time together at Stamford Bridge.
Todd Boehly and his team have faced plenty of criticism over how they have managed the club, but having Palmer signed to a contract with another seven years remaining gives them a strong hand if interest in him grows.
