Texas QB Arch Manning undergoes foot surgery, eyes limited off-season

Texas quarterback Arch Manning underwent minor foot surgery and will be limited during off-season workouts, the Longhorns announced Friday.

Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Texas quarterback Arch Manning underwent minor foot surgery and will be limited during off-season workouts, the Longhorns announced Friday.

Texas said the surgery was performed this week as a "preventative measure to address a previous injury." Manning is expected to return during spring football activities.

Longhorns defensive back Xavier Filsaime, offensive lineman Trevor Goosby and linebacker Ty'Anthony Smith had off-season shoulder surgeries. Wide receivers Ryan Wingo and Emmett Mosley V underwent ankle surgeries. All of those players are expected to by 100% healthy in 2026-27.

Manning completed 61.8% of his throws for 3,163 yards, 26 scores and seven interceptions over 13 games for the Longhorns in 2025. He also ran for 399 yards and 10 scores during his redshirt sophomore campaign.

Manning, Oregon's Dante Moore, Baylor's D.J. Lagway and Ohio State's Julian Sayin are expected to be among the top quarterback prospects in the 2027 NFL Draft.

The Longhorns will host Texas State in their 2026 opener Sept. 5 in Austin. They will host Sayin and the Buckeyes on Sept. 12 at Darrrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
