On Friday, Brown shot a 12-under on the Nicklaus course to propel himself up to a tie with the world number one. Both players will now be paired together heading into Saturday’s third round as Brown seeks his first professional win.

Brown is a Nashville native and stormed onto the professional golf scene at age 16. He shocked golf fans when he broke Bobby Jones’ amateur stroke play record, which gave him a pro chance.

This weekend, Brown has a chance to continue his early career success competing alongside Scheffler and other top PGA Tour stars. The AmEx has a star-studded field for an early-season event.
