On this frigid day in Louisville the Cards may not have been the most hospitable hosts because they never let the visiting Boston College Eagles get warm. BC didn’t score until midway through the first quarter and were held to 29% shooting for the game. The Cards also defeated them on the boards 49-26.

Mackenly Randolph led the Cards in scoring with 13. The Cards played noticeably better every time she was on the floor. Laura Ziegler had 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Skylar Jones had 9 points. Coach Walz pointed out, “We’ve got three players in double figures and three others that had 9. We were a free throw away from having six in double figures and that’s with kids not playing more than 23 minutes. It’s something I’ve been very impressed with.”

Coach Walz said, “It was really nice to have the opportunity to get everybody as many minutes as we did. When a game like this presents itself I try to get as many in there in the first half just to give them the opportunity to get out there during live action not just in the fourth quarter.”

Louisville finished the game with 21 turnovers. Coach Walz said, “Overall I thought we did some really good things but we’ve got to take care of the ball better. It’s inexcusable.” He added, “Of our 21 turnovers there were about 14 of them that were self-inflicted where there was no focus. Just throwing the ball straight out of bounds. Which if we’re going to win we can’t do that. That’s a concern of mine.”

Next up the Cards travel to California. They’ll play Stanford on Thursday the 29th at 8PM. The game can be seen on ESPN.
